Francisco Javier “Pancho” Abelló

Pancho Abelló is an Assistant Professor and Extension Economist – Management at Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service for District 3.  Francisco Abelló provides district leadership and coordination for Extension education programs and applied research in farm and ranch management, livestock economics, financial and economic profitability analyses, marketing, resources, and policy by providing technical expertise and educational program development for industry audiences.  Provides agricultural economic tools to help farmers and ranchers to improve profitability and be better prepared to manage risk.

Prior to joining Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service, Mr. Abelló was CEO of all farms and ranchers managed by TraulenCo, a management and administration firm in Argentina, and provided agricultural production, economic and financial business consulting in Latin America for private equity investments and capital management funds (Argentina, Perú, Nicaragua, Paraguay, and Brazil).

Mr. Abelló has more than 16 years of agricultural and livestock production experience, consulting, extension service, financial, economic and agribusiness analyses, and strategic planning for commercial farming and ranching operations, and agricultural investment funds.  Proficient in developing cost-effective decision tools using economic, financial, production, and marketing data to evaluate decision-making opportunities for farmers and ranchers. Experienced developer of management information systems (MIS) for farms and ranches that address accounting for tax compliance, managerial accounting, data collection and reporting for production and financial management.  Experienced implementing marketing and management programs for farmers and ranchers and developing educational materials focusing on managerial accounting and strategic marketing for farmers and ranchers and specialty crop producers.

Mr. Abelló holds an Agriculture Production Engineering degree from Argentine Catholic University and a Master of Science in Agricultural Economics and a Master of Agribusiness from Texas A&M University, Department of Agricultural Economics.
