Dr. Yuri Calil is an empirical economist that studies the challenges facing agribusiness organizations. He aims to identify the tools and policies that help overcome these challenges. Serving as Economist-Management for the Coastal Bend, he provides district leadership and coordination for education programs and applied research in his areas of expertise.
Before joining the faculty at Texas A&M University, Dr. Calil worked as an Assistant Professor of Economic and Financial Engineering at the Federal University of Itajubá (Brazil) and as a consultant at PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC). He conducted research at the University of Chicago, the University of Manitoba, and the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign as Visiting Scholar. His training includes a MicroMaster from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT); and courses at IMPA and Babson College.
