We’re back with some helpful resources and information about agricultural law for your Friday!

*Florida foreign ag land ownership law facing legal challenge.  Micah Brown from the National Ag Law Center recently wrote a great summary of lawsuit challenging Florida’s foreign ag land ownership law as unconstitutional.  [Read article here.]  To hear Micah and I discuss foreign ag land ownership laws generally, click here.

*EPA appears to continue to fight for WOTUS Rule.  You may recall from this blog post my prediction that the Biden administration would likely withdraw and attempt to re-write its WOTUS definition after the recent US Supreme Court decision in Sackett v. EPA, which unanimously rejected the “significant nexus” test as proper to determine whether a water or wetland is a WOTUS.  At least thus far, it appears that my prediction was incorrect.  This week, the EPA continued to seek a review of an injunction issued by a federal court in North Dakota that prohibited the rule from going into effect in 24 states.  (Note there are two other injunctions that have prevented the rule from going into effect in Texas, Idaho, and Kentucky).  [Read article here.]  To hear more about the US Supreme Court decision in Sackett, click here.

*State-by-State “ag gag” guide.  Husch Blackwell attorneys recently published a state-by-state guide to “ag gag” statutes.  For anyone interested in this topic, this is a great resource.  [Read guide here.]

*Single parents with minor children need to have a plan.  My friend, Cari Rincker, recently published a great blog post addressing the legal considerations single parents with minor children should make about the care, custody, and financial support of their children should something happen to the parent.  [Read article here.]

*BASF Safety Scout program for farm kids launches.  BASF has launched a farm safety program for farm children.  The Safety Scouts program is designed to get farm kids involved in the discussion about farm safety and to encourage them to take an active role in this important goal.  [Read more here.]
