2023 Rural Land Value Trends Report Is Here!
Each year, the Texas Chapter of the American Society of Farm Managers and Rural Appraisers publishes a Rural Land Value Trends report. This is one of the best documents available for those interested in the sales value and lease value of rural lands in Texas. 2023 USDA Land Values Summary
Earlier this fall, the USDA released its annual Land Values Summary for 2023. [View report here.] Not surprisingly, the report indicates increasing values nationwide over the past year. For “farm real estate value,” which takes into account the value of all land and buildings on farms, the US average value was $4,080, up 7.4% from 2022. For cropland, the nationwide average value increased 8.1% to $5,460/acre. For pastureland, the nationwide average value was $1,760/acre, up 6.7% from last year. USDA-NASS Releases 2022 Cash Rent Report
Each year, the USDA National Agricultural Statistics Service conducts a nationwide survey to gather data and compile a report showing average cash rental rates across the United States. Please note that all reported cash rent amounts are listed in a per acre/per year format. To view the database with the data for each state, click here. 2022 USDA Land Values Summary
As happens every August, the USDA released its Land Values Summary Report for 2022. [View Report here.] Not surprisingly, the report indicates increasing values nationwide over the past year. For “farm real estate value,” which takes into account the value of all land and buildings on farms, the US average value was $3,800, a 12% increase from last year. For cropland, the nationwide average value increased 14% to $5,050/acre. For pastureland, the nationwide average value was $1,650/acre, up 11.5% from last year. One of the most useful resources for rural Texas landowners is the annual Rural Land Value Trends Report published by the Texas Chapter of the American Society of Farm Managers and Rural Appraisers. 2020 USDA NASS Cash Rental Rate Survey Results Published
The USDA National Agricultural Statistics Service recently published their 2020 Cash Rental Rate Survey results. This report provides average cash rental rates by state and by county for irrigated cropland, non-irrigated cropland, and pastureland. Keep in mind these numbers are merely averages based on survey responses provided to USDA. Each year, the Texas Chapter of the American Society of Farm Managers & Rural Appraisers publishes the Texas Rural Land Value Trends report. This document provides helpful, interesting information for Texas landowners on both average property value and lease rates for agricultural land across the state.
