Basis Project: About the Cash and Futures Data

The cash grain prices used for this project are Thursday prices provided by participating elevators in each specific region. Data for certain regions (North of the Canadian River, Triangle area, south of the line from Plainview to Mulseshoe and Houston Port) are collected and provided by TDA/AMS. These series run from 1977-current. Data for other regions are collected from elevators by an Extension graduate student in the Department of Agricultural Economics at Texas A&M University. The student's funding is provided by grants from the Texas Wheat Producers Board and the Texas Corn Producers Board. These series contain less price history since collection began in 2000.
