Adaptive Re-use: buildings, equipment, spaces

Buildings, Equipment, Spaces, etc.

The purpose of Adaptive Re-Use is to preserve the structure by finding an alternate use.  (e.g., a house used as a restaurant). A growing number of farmers and ranchers are generating additional revenues by restoring and adapting historic buildings and structures to generate revenue including: wineries, farm markets, restaurants, bed and breakfasts, museums/artifact exhibits, dance halls, and theaters. The historical character of these buildings enhances the uniqueness and value of ranch and farm products and visitor tourism experiences.

Other examples for re-use include abandoned battleships, mills, airbases, jails, graveyards, dams, seaside and riverside complexes, and old cattle-driving trails.  The film industry is another opportunity especially if your community features an unusual or picturesque mansion, courthouse, farm, swimming hole, hacienda, riverfront home or 1950's-era gas station.
