Dr. C. Parr Rosson, III

Parr Rosson is Director of the Center for North American Studies and Professor and Extension Economist in the Department of Agricultural Economics at Texas A&M University. His extension responsibilities and applied research activities focus on economic impacts of trade and trade agreements, trade policy analysis, trade and the environment, international marketing, and most recently, trade disruptions due to invasive species. He teaches two undergraduate courses, one is International Trade and Agriculture, the other is International Agribusiness Marketing.

Rosson chairs the Agribusiness and Fisheries Committee of the Border Trade Alliance and serves on the Grains, Feed, and Oilseeds Agricultural Trade Advisory Committee for USDA/USTR. Rosson also chairs the Education Committee of the Texas-Cuba Trade Alliance. He has 25 years experience working on projects in Iraq, Mexico, Canada, Central America, Cuba, South America, Europe, Australia, Japan, and developing Asia. Prior to coming to Texas A&M in 1989, Rosson spent seven years at Clemson University where he was Associate Professor and Extension Agricultural Economist and Director of International Programs.

He received a Ph.D. (1982) and M.S. (1978) in Agricultural Economics and B.S. (1971) in Agronomy, all from Texas A&M University. He served as an officer in the Army of the United States from 1971-77 and was a captain in the U.S. Army Reserve from 1977-85. Rosson grew up in the rural community of Taft, Texas and worked on the family farm, and at their grain elevator and cotton gin. He is married to Helen Blackwell and has three sons.
